STUDENTS HELPING ACHIEVE PHILANTHROPIC EXCELLENCELaurie Forsman - Shape Club Advisors
The MMU SHAPE Club meets from 7:50-8:20am every Tuesday morning in room 512. Anyone interested in getting involved in SHAPE should show up or contact the club advisors above for more information.
The mission of Mt. Mansfield Union High School's SHAPE Club is to engage and empower students through philanthropic, activities leadership opportunities, civic engagement and career development in order to help them achieve personal and professional success. At MMU, students place their focus on areas that positively impact the quality of life in the fields of health, human services, education and the environment within our communities; with particular attention to those areas that are being greatly affected by our present economic downturn.
FOOD CHAIN RALLY- Recently the shape club put together the yearly food chain rally to benefit the Jericho food shelf. Together, our advisories donated over 1500 items, filling up the back of 5 pick up trucks. The winning advisories were those of Ms. Botzojorns and Ms. Capone/Ms. Maheux, each donating over 100 items. The food chain rally helped to benefit the 68 families and 209 people who stopped by the food shelf that weekend.
SILENT AUCTION - The SHAPE silent auction was a great success, raising over a thousand dollars for local charities and community organizations. About 30 different items were donated by local businesses for the auction, which took place during parent-teacher conferences at the high school.
PRETZEL SALES - Students from SHAPE regularly sell soft pretzels after school to raise money.
